National Call-In Day for the TVPRA
Location: Nationwide

Join together with your fellow Americans in support the the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA). Sign up to call your Senator on September 8, 2011 and say you want them to pass this act! The current TVPRA expires September 30, and if this new authorization isn’t passed before then, it will seriously inhibit the efforts of the anti-trafficking community. Commit to call today!

Introduction to Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children for Mental Health Professionals by Georgia Office for Children and Families
Location: Downtown Decatur

This is a “train the trainer” event being put on by the Georgia Office for Children and Families. This training is only open for GA licensed child & adolescent mental health professionals. Professionals are particularly needed from South Georgia, Columbus, and Rome. If you are a licensed professional in these areas and have any interest in helping the fight against human trafficking, please join this event!

Anti-Human Trafficking Summit Building Bridges: Uniting to Combat Human Trafficking in Georgia
Location: Atlanta, GA

Time: Registration opens at 7:00 AM, the event will be from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

“This one-day summit convenes a broad consortium of law enforcement, victim service providers, NGO’s, and members of the community to discuss the growing problem of human trafficking in Georgia. Panelists will discuss federal and state laws available to combat trafficking; highlight services available to victims of human trafficking; and discuss community responses to human trafficking.”

Savannah Working against Human Trafficking (SWAHT) is hosting a fundraiser fiesta on Sunday, June 26, from noon until 8 pm at Rancho Alegre Restaurant in Savannah!  Advance purchase tickets for $20 include an entrée choice (baby sirloin, roast pork, or roast chicken), non-alcoholic beverage, and gratuity.

Introduction to Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children for Mental Health Professionals, hosted by the Governor’s Office of Family and Children

(Parking in the fenced-in gravel parking lot next to the building is free of charge.)

“This FREE session dispels some of the stereotypes about children exploited through the sex trade. We will cover who is vulnerable to recruitment, pathways to entry, risk factors, opportunities for intervention, appropriate and effective engagement with victims, and possible treatment strategies for commercially sexually exploited children. The program includes video segments.”

6 CEUs approved by NASW-GA will be provided free of charge.
