You enter a building only to find yourself in a dark room, empty of customers. Opening time is still a few hours away, so the only people around are perhaps the manager and a few other men, preparing for the night’s entertainment. While you are nervous, your surroundings tug at your heart and mind as you try to maintain focus. You are on a mission, after all, a mission of love.
On Sunday, January 30, 2011, PBA aired an allegorical film about the sex trafficking industry. Following this 30 minute film was another half hour presentation on sex trafficking and the commercial exploitation of children in Atlanta, Georgia. Featuring an unsuspected interpretation, followed by statistics, interviews, and current government involvement, both films were very well executed.
Within the relatively short history of the United States of America, one can discern an overarching theme: Freedom. This country was formed from the idea that men and women can and should exercise personal freedom without fear of repercussions from any government or person. But even after fighting two wars to enable autonomy and abolish slavery, not all in this country are free. Beneath the glittering pride of this nation lies a hidden shame, a shame that many in this nation don’t even know exists, and those who do often choose to ignore. Slavery not only still survives, it thrives within these streets that have been paved with the blood our ancestors gave to abolish its existence. Read More…
